Powerful Art (I know: isn’t always?)
LAAAARGE, ColoSSal, Big, GI-normous, SUPER-sized & Glorious Art,…
I love love the unity a large-scale piece brings to a space. It shouts confidence! In this example, it’s a double dose of confidence in that bold color choice. Violet purple is not for the faint of heart,… a favorite Crayola color once upon a time!
If the large scale is as daring as you’ll get, then keep the subject more subdued, in shades of black-white-gray: fool-proof!
Look how this colorful, sizable (just about floor-to-ceiling) abstract piece reinforces the fun, casual vibe in this eating area.
Not only for white walls, btw……….. traditional meets contemporary!
Not a fan of ABSTRACT ART? Photography can also fit the bill… like with this moody horse subject.
More BIG photography: this time in a cool, blue-gray bedroom,… no white walls, just crisp white matting around the photo!
You’re probably thinking: So, what about GALLERY WALLS? These are not going anywhere. I love a curated gallery wall, and there are always room for both.
This whimsical gallery wall mixes round and square and just works! Know that gallery walls take some planning in placement as well as in content. For this reason, one large- scaled piece of art is much easier to work with.
Someone loves their blue,… white tempers it making it all work!
Have a large wall,… like over the bed, sofa, mantle (the stereotypical spots & for good reason)? Think Super-sized art: remember, art is completely subjective and in the eye of the beholder,…. if you love it, then it will work!
BIG ART - little effort!
I liken it to the “little black dress” that is really not a “little” but a BIG dress,… a work-horse in our clothing arsenal.
